During our peak campaign season, United Way of King County calls on our corporate partners to lend us some of their best and brightest employees. Called
"loaned executives," these dynamic leaders become community spokespeople and assist local companies in running United Way giving campaigns.
United Way of King County's Loaned Executive Program was born in 1951.
Bill Allen, former CEO of The Boeing Company, was instrumental in establishing
not only the Loaned Executive Program. He served as United Way of King County's
campaign chair in 1951 and recruited 10 loaned executives to support the United
Way campaign. The program has been hailed as a national model and is a large
part of United Way of King County's success.
