What is an IDA? |
The IDA Team The following organizations are working together to bring this IDA program to the residents of King County. United Way of King County United Way of King County developed the IDA program in close partnership with the 13 agencies that will be bringing you this progressive savings tool. United Way of King County plays a big role in making sure that the program runs smoothly for all participants. You may have heard of this organization before and perhaps even benefited from some of its other projects. United Way of King County works to strengthen the community in a number of ways. Its typical role is to provide funds to agencies and programs, in addition to running volunteer programs and addressing critical community issues. Community Agencies Twelve participating community agencies serving populations throughout King County are partners in the IDA program. One of these agencies will be the first point of contact for anyone who is interested in participating. An agency staff member will work with you to help you determine whether it’s wisest to save for a home, business, or education. Together, you’ll decide on a reasonable savings goal. In addition, someone from the community agency will be available as a case manager for you throughout the time you are saving with an IDA. The staff at our community agencies also provide training in financial skills and asset management—helping you further plan for your financial future. Financial Institution Our bank partners in the IDA program provides no-fee, interest-bearing savings accounts for you, the IDA investor. It also holds the matching funds that will ultimately help you buy a home, attend school or start a business. Program Evaluators The Evans School of Public Affairs Annie E.
