Context: Age Distribution Limitations

One word of caution before using and interpreting the following age distribution data. The ages posted are not set at even intervals. All age demographic data is gathered using Claritas as a secondary source. The data source dictates the age categories published below with the exception of data elements for age 0-6 and 7-9. In this circumstance the published records were separated for ages 0-4 and 5-9. United Way of King County and several contemporary efforts focus on the birth through pre-kindergarten population as one age block. In this instance the age 5-9 grouping was disaggregated into single ages with the operating assumption that there is an even distribution for each age. The single ages were then distributed with ages 5 and 6 being added to the 0-4 age grouping and ages 7, 8 & 9 standing as a single category.
