United Way's Cannery Project Feeds Tens of Thousands

Volunteers canning food for united way's cannery project in kent.

Komo News Elisa Jaffe covers United Way of King County's innovative new cannery project. Each week, thousands of pounds of healthy produce go to waste before it can be distributed to the families who need it. United Way's 'Yes we Can' project saves that food from the garbage heap by organizing volunteers to can the food, extending its shelf life to more than three years, and transport it to food banks across the county. The program will produce one half million cans of food per year!
