United Way and the Mariners—A Winning Team
Huge congratulations to our campaign co-chair, former Seattle Mariners all-star catcher Dan Wilson, who was inducted into the Mariners' Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 28. Wilson was joined in the induction by former teammate and pitcher Randy Johnson.
The duo is one of the most celebrated batteries in club history, with Wilson one of the best defensive catchers and Johnson one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League Baseball history. During a pre-game ceremony, they became the fifth and sixth members of the Mariners' Hall of Fame.
For the 2012–2013 campaign year, United Way of King County is proud to partner with Wilson and his wife and campaign co-chair, Annie, as well as the Seattle Mariners, in ending hunger and homelessness and giving every child an equal shot at success in school. The great teamwork is already extending beyond our enthusiastic campaign chairs and into the community. The M’s hosted the UPS northwest district’s workplace campaign kickoff with Dan at Safeco Field in May and brought together United Way leadership donors to enjoy a ballgame in early July.
Heartfelt thanks to the Seattle Mariners and Dan and Annie Wilson for their commitment to making King County a place that truly thrives. We’re thrilled to have you on the team!
