Employees of The Boeing Company have once again shown their incredible generosity, giving $7.6 million to United Way of King County in an effort to change our community for the better in fundamental, lasting ways.

"The Boeing Company continues to be a leader in this community and as people working together as a global enterprise for aerospace leadership," United Way of King County President and CEO Jon Fine said. "Boeing is actively engaged with United Way through generous donations of time, talent and money."

Through the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound, workers awarded $5 million to United Way of King County. In addition to the employees' generosity, Boeing made a corporate award of $2.6 million to United Way and supported the community wide effort, providing six Boeing employees as loaned executives to United Way of King County and funding for 11 more to support the 2006 fundraising campaign.

"Boeing employees are committed to ensuring that the Puget Sound region remains a healthy and vibrant place to work and raise their families," said Gordon McHenry director, corporate strategy & NW region global corporate citizenship for Boeing. "They know that by choosing to invest in United Way of King County, they are making positive changes in the lives of thousands of people."

Boeing and the Employees' Community Fund strongly support United Way of King County in its two community priorities; ensuring children are ready to succeed in school and ending homelessness. The company recently awarded a grant to support United Way of King County's advocacy efforts around early learning and continues annual support of United Way's Free Tax Preparation Campaign through volunteerism and donations of computers.

Established in 1951, the Employees' Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound is a non-profit grant making organization, which is the largest employee-owned charitable organization in the world. Employee contributions go to non-profits, most of which are health- and human service-related agencies.

Good corporate citizenship is a core value at The Boeing Company, and includes strategic philanthropy (including cash grants, in-kind and surplus donations and contributions of intellectual capital); volunteerism; employee drives; gift matching programs; the Employees Community Fund of The Boeing Company; disaster relief; as well as philanthropy-related sponsorships, business contributions and business sponsorships. Boeing's corporate citizenship activities are site based and extend to 27 states in the U.S., 14 other countries and four international regions where the company has a presence.
