Chairman's Award Winners For overall campaign excellence

Tom Barden from Accenture
Accenture prides itself on leading its industry. The company's slogan says it all: "High Performance Delivered." This year Accenture brought that focus to its United Way fundraising campaign and did it deliver! For Accenture's All Hands meetings, management brought in speakers from United Way of King County to talk to employees about the needs in the community and how they can help meet those needs. Campaign Coordinator Tim Brennan helped organize a focus group to learn about the philanthropic giving patterns of young professionals, so they could better target their workforce. Using this data, Accenture set up teams named after local mountain peaks in a competition measuring highest participation and giving amounts. It's not a surprise that 2006 resulted in an all time high in fundraising for Accenture, and for the fifth year running nearly 65% of all gifts went directly to United Way of King County.

United Way CEO Jon Fine (l) and Wayne Byers from Holland America Line
Holland America Line set its sights high for their 2006 fundraising campaign. For the past four years the organization has continued to increase its overall fundraising and this year was no exception as they raised nearly 30% more than 2005! The organization's one-to-one match helped Holland America to crush their goal. Holland America offered unprecedented access for their employees to be exposed to the message and work of United Way of King County. Management provided strong giving, holding an executive campaign kick-off and offering special recognition for leadership givers. Holland America is actively engaged with United Way of King County year round, as an outdoor media sponsor, and a supporter of our Free Tax Preparation Campaign.

Jennifer Burnsides from Practice Partner
In her second year at the helm as campaign coordinator for Practice Partner, Jennifer Burnsides focused on awareness of the work United Way of King County is accomplishing in the community. Bringing in experts from the community, Jennifer highlighted United Way's priority of making sure that every child in King County is ready for school. Employees of Practice Partner responded by nearly doubling their average contribution. These contributions became even more powerful through two matching programs. Not only did Practice Partner match employees' donations, but CEO Andy Ury also added a matching gift once the campaign reached its goal.
