Leadership Giving Award Winners For workplaces that promote giving at the $1,000 level and above

Cingular

Brian Shay from Cingular Wireless

The employees of Cingular Wireless take a lot of pride in their United Way of King County campaign, and have a lot of fun in the process. Their campaign is so successful because of the dedication of their Cingular volunteer team, and the variety of events they hold companywide. This year, working with executive leadership, they added a Leadership Giving event for all directors at Cingular, renting out a theater and holding a Jeopardy! tournament. The strategy worked, and more than 70 team members at Cingular gave gifts of more than $1,000 to United Way of King County.

Swedish Health Services

Kelly Malone from Swedish Health Services

Swedish Health Services has always been a leading community partner. Its belief in the value of United Way of King County and the work it achieves is closely tied to its mission of service. CEO Richard Peterson was personally committed to ensuring a successful campaign this year. Not only did he make a personal ask of management to give at the leadership level, but he sent staff a daily fact about the work being accomplished in the community by United Way of King County. Swedish also produced a video featuring 10 employees that were personally touched by United Way, and hosted this on their intranet. This year, leadership contributions at Swedish Health Services increased by more than 20%.
