Energize people through volunteering

Keep the spirit of giving going year-round at your workplace by engaging people in volunteering. Studies show that people who volunteer tend to donate more money to nonprofits than people who do not. There is also evidence that annual donors can lose interest over time, but that being asked to share their time and talent revitalizes their commitment even if they don't accept the invitation.

Here are some easy ways to get people involved in volunteering:

Boeing employees reach charitable milestone

United Way of King County congratulates The Boeing Company and Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound for reaching the $500 million mark in charitable giving.

Made up of contributions by employees and retirees, ECF of Boeing Puget Sound is a separate nonprofit supported by The Boeing Company. When combined with all Employees Community Funds throughout The Boeing Company, it is the largest employee-owned charitable giving organization in the world.

Diana Rhea has been giving to ECF Boeing Puget Sound since she began working as a clerk-typist in the parts-ordering group at Boeing in 1942.

"A little goes a long way and we should do our part in helping the community," Rhea said. "The Employees Community Fund has been one of the reasons I have chosen to continue my career at Boeing. I feel that we, as a group, are at the forefront of giving to the community."

Thanks to Boeing employees' generous support, United Way is helping more kids to succeed in school, more homeless people to get out of the rain, and more community services to reach our neighbors. Thank you, Boeing employees, for giving your time, talent and money. Together we are creating profound and positive change in thousands of people's lives.
