PricewaterhouseCoopers: "sold" on a stronger community

PricewaterhouseCoopers prides itself on being a strong community supporter, locally and globally. As part of its support of United Way of King County's work, the company includes an annual auction during its workplace giving campaign. This year's auction was held at the Sheraton Hotel and, for the second year in a row, it generated more than $38,000 for United Way of King County. PricewaterhouseCoopers offered both live and silent auctions, and provided appetizers and an open bar to add to the excitement and fun. Many of the auction items were donated by PricewaterhouseCoopers employees, including big ticket items such as use of a ski resort condominium. Congratulations to PricewaterhouseCoopers for its auction and workplace giving campaign!

Providence Health & Services - just what the doctor ordered

Providence Health & Services

Providence Health & Services is helping United Way of King County create fundamental, lasting change. The organization places great value in meeting people's healthcare needs and in strengthening our community. Providence believes so strongly in our work that this year it invested 100% of its workplace campaign contributions directly in United Way. Providence also sponsored United Way's first-ever Community Resource Exchange. Thanks, Providence, for your dedication to making our community healthier in so many ways.

Microsoft Innovates with Zune Gives

This year Microsoft's Giving Campaign included a program called Zune Gives, which allowed employees to help purchase Zunes for selected charities around the Northwest through financial donations to the giving campaign. Microsoft looked to United Way of King County for our expertise in helping identify ideal agencies where the Zunes could be used. The program was wildly successful, raising more than 460 Zunes to give away. The unique program also inspired Microsoft employees to give during the workplace campaign. Recipients were given three accessory packs, a $15 Zune card and a matching donation with each Zune. Several Zune team members are volunteering time to get the recipient organizations up and running with it. Thanks to Microsoft for this innovative giving strategy!

2008 Community Assessment Online

United Way of King County's Community Assessment reviews the current status of health and human services in our community. It supports planning, alignment of community-wide goals, and action strategies that enhance the quality of life for King County residents. The assessment includes detailed information about Data and Demographics, Impact Areas, Subregions, Cross-cutting Issues and Best and Promising Practices.

This year's assessment is a Web-based version that provides easy access to valuable information for professionals in the health and human services arena. Updates to the online assessment will be made throughout the year, so check back often.
