Save the date for Day of Caring!





Day of Caring is a fun way to make a huge difference in just one day. Join thousands of your friends, neighbors and colleagues Friday, September 21 for an all-county day of volunteering. You might serve a meal at a homeless shelter, spruce up a day care center or repair a hiking trail. Day of Caring starts with a fabulous kickoff celebration at 7:30 a.m. at the Seattle Center. Enjoy a continental breakfast, live music and games, and pick up your Volunteer Care Package full of helpful tools and treats to help you through the day. Plus, enter to win fabulous prizes including a cruise for two on the Holland America line.

It's easy to get involved. Put together a volunteer team from your company. Sign up for a project at unitedwayofkingcounty.org/doc starting August 6. Volunteer on September 21. That's it!

Help homeless students succeed in school





United Way of King County is partnering with the Seattle-King County Coalition for the Homeless to collect school supplies for homeless students through the Project Cool for Back-to-School program. Project Cool will provide backpacks, school supplies and gift certificates for shoes to 2,000 homeless children and youth living in King County. To make a financial donation, donate school supplies or find out more information, please contact Victoria Nelson-Meissner at 206.694.6732.

United Way of King County to invest $30 million in community





In an effort to provide fundamental, long-term community solutions, United Way of King County recently announced it will invest more than $30 million in King County during its 2007-2008 funding cycle.

"By spending our campaign dollars with a very clear sense of purpose and mission, we believe we can make enormous strides toward actually solving some of the greatest social issues facing our county, and not just managing them," said Jon Fine, United Way of King County CEO. Learn more >>
