Thousands of volunteers make an impact on Day of Caring

Thank you to the thousands of volunteers who chose to lend their time and talents on United Way of King County's Day of Caring. On September 21, more than 7,000 volunteers provided an estimated $600,000 worth of labor at 366 service projects throughout King County. Their efforts will change our community in fundamental and lasting ways. Special thanks to our Day of Caring sponsors: AT&T, WaMu, Home Depot, Microsoft Corporation and Tully's.

Read to help kids succeed

When you read aloud with kids on a regular basis, you not only build their language, learning and social skills, you make learning fun and meaningful. United Way of King County is currently recruiting volunteers to read aloud to young children (ages 3-5), one-on-one, at preschools, Head Start classrooms, and child care centers throughout our community on a weekly basis. Connect with a child who needs you! By simply committing a couple of hours a week of your time, you can have a profound impact on the lives of the children you help. Register today, or for more information, e-mail readers@uwkc.org or call Carolyn Cunningham at 206.461.3656.
