Asset Development Annual Report 2008
United Way of King County's financial stability strategies focus on those who are at the highest risk: foster youth aging out of the system and hardworking families struggling to pay bills with their limited monthly income. By offering programs for people to increase their personal wealth, invest in the future of their families and develop solid financial literacy skills, United Way of King County is helping to prevent the circumstances that can cause an individual or family to become homeless in the first place.

Gates Endowment Report
The Gates Endowment gives United Way of King County the resources to focus on our key priorities of ending homelessness and getting kids ready for school, as well as respond to emerging needs caused by the economic downturn. The endowment allows United Way to offset operating costs to a low 3.8 percent. This means that 96 cents of every dollar can be used to help people in need. This report includes details about how the endowment is helping create measurable outcomes that fundamentally change our community for the better.

A Region at Risk: Improving Our Readiness to Respond to Disaster
United Way of King County assembled a task force of community leaders and laypersons to examine our community's response to the December 2006 windstorm, particularly as to how it effects vulnerable populations. These include disabled people, frail seniors and people with limited English skills. The task force found that in the case of a large scale disaster, our community is not prepared to adequately respond to those populations most in need of assistance and identified seven areas and issues for action.

Individual Development Account Program 2006 Annual Report
Individual Development Accounts are an innovative tool that United Way of King County provides to help low-income people get ahead and stay ahead in their financial lives. Hunger Relief Now! A Plan to Reduce Hunger in King County

2006 United Way of King County survey on attitudes and perceptions of homelessness in King County: Key findings
In March 2006, we surveyed 849 adult residents in King County about their attitudes, perceptions and actions towards the homelessness issue. The research findings give us insight into our community's state of mind about homelessness, and they suggest what needs to be done to create the public will to end homelessness.

Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign Report 2006
The Earned Income Tax Credit, a tax benefit for working people who earn low or moderate incomes, is the nation's most efficient anti-poverty program for working families. The campaign is one element in United Way of King County's strategy to end homelessness. The report highlights the unique components of the campaign, list results for each tax site and illustrates the campaign's ability to make a real difference in people's lives.

Facing the Future: The State of Human Services in Washington
The Department of Social and Health Services produced this report to engage citizens and our community partners in a conversation about government's changing role in providing health and human services. It is also intended to stimulate a broader discussion about the tough decisions that government, citizens, communities, business and service providers face in the years ahead as demand and costs far exceed what government can afford. North King County Early Learning Assessment
To gain a better understanding of the strengths and needs of North King County in early learning, United Way of King County's North Community Council launched the Early Learning Assessment in April 2007. This community effort aims at evaluating the availability, accessibility and appropriateness of all early learning programs and activities provided in the cities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell and Woodinville by public and private providers.

Working Together: Three Case Studies from Organizations in King County Collaborating Across Organizational Size and Cultural Difference
The Working Together study emerged from the work of United Way of King County's Systems Support Impact Council after it identified a community need to build stronger relationships between smaller, community-specific organizations and larger, mainstream service providers. Moving to Higher Ground
Together with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Seattle Foundation, United Way of King County convened the Statewide Disaster Preparedness Assessment Task Force. In June 2009, the task force completed work on a report that explores alternatives through which philanthropy can play critical roles in helping ensure that Washington's communities will be more resilient when confronted with major natural or other disasters in the future.
