Thousands make an impact in one day

This year's Day of Caring on September 21 was our biggest ever, and the results were impressive.

More than 7,000 volunteers from nearly 120 companies chose to lend their time and talents to schools, nonprofit organizations and parks across King County.

An estimated $600,000 worth of labor was contributed and 366 service projects throughout King County were completed.

The day began with a festive volunteer kick-off celebration at Seattle Center where volunteers enjoyed complimentary breakfast, coffee and a live performance by '80s Invasion. Volunteers then headed off to assigned work sites to participate in a day of service with their coworkers.

Thank to all of the volunteers who contributed their time to this massive one-day effort. Their generosity is changing our community in fundamental and lasting ways. And special thanks to our Day of Caring sponsors: AT&T, WaMu, Home Depot, Microsoft Corporation and Tully's.
