Committees, audits and reviews, oh my

United Way of King County's funded agencies, or "grantees," are required to submit annual financial statements to be audited or reviewed by an independent certified public accountant. Every audit or financial statement review goes before United Way's all-volunteer Audit Review Committee.

Several elements are considered in determining future allocation levels, including an agency's history of audit submission. In addition to the audit review, the committee meets three times each year to review trends with agencies, follow up on issues identified, review new tax policy that affects nonprofits, and develops training opportunities for agencies around financial issues.

E-mail Lori Guilfoyle or call her at 206.461.5056 with any questions you may have about the committee or audit review process.
