Partnering to provide funding opportunity for disaster readiness

United Way of King County is working in partnership with Public Health-Seattle & King County to launch a 2007 cycle of business continuity planning workshops and small grants. The workshops and projects will give human service non-profits in King County the tools and resources they need to help ensure continuity of services to clients in the aftermath of a major disaster.

United Way grantees who have not yet attended a Public Health/United Way-sponsored business continuity training workshop and those who do not have up-to-date business continuity plans are strongly encouraged to apply.

One-day training workshops will be held the week of October 22, 2007. Applications for small grants up to $2,499 to help defray the costs of preparing business continuity plans and/or obtain approved emergency supplies for plans are due to Public Health, c/o pj.redmond@kingcounty.gov, by e-mail by 5:00 p.m. on August 3, 2007.

For more information about this grant funding opportunity and application requirements, please contact P.J. Redmond, VPAT outreach program manager, Public Health - Seattle & King County, 206.205.6224, or Doug Whalen, United Way of King County, 206.461.4078.
