Partnering to End Homelessness in South King County

A bold new action plan seeks to end homelessness in South King County. Funded by United Way of King County and developed by government representatives, funders and housing and service providers, the plan provides key information on the state of homelessness in South King County and serves as a tactical guide for solving this critical community issue.

The plan calls for an intensive effort to build the community will to end homelessness, and better coordination of existing resources. Key components of the plan include strategies to stabilize individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless and rapidly re-housing those who become homeless. Additionally the plan sets the framework to rehabilitate the aging stock of housing available to low income families.

To see the plan to completion, City of Kent Human Services Planner Jason Johnson will take on the role of homelessness coordination in South King County. Jason has worked for the City of Kent for the last six years and he has 14 years of experience working on housing and homelessness advocacy and planning. The position will now be funded in partnership by United Way of King County, the City of Kent and the Committee to End Homelessness in King County.

For more information about the South King County plan to end homelessness and ways you can get involved e-mail Community Impact Manager Lori Guilfoyle or call 206.461.5056.
