Introduction to Tutoring
New to tutoring? This workshop will explain the basics, including how to build relationships with and motivate students, structure sessions and set goals.

Basics of Reading for the Elementary-School Student
This workshop will introduce participants to a child's world of reading, and will provide glimpses of steps children take in learning to read. Tutors will learn meaningful tools and strategies for working with children for whom reading is a challenge.

Basics of Reading for the Middle-School Student
Participants will learn strategies to help middle-school students with reading comprehension and fluency.

Hands-On Math for the Elementary-School Student
This workshop will teach tutors fun and creative games and activities they can use to take the anxiety out of math for elementary-school students.

Math for the Middle-School Student
Participants will learn a variety of hands-on techniques to help middle-school students understand math concepts.

A Tutor's Bag of Tricks
Make learning fun! Participants will learn a number of reading and math games and "tricks" to get students excited about and engaged in learning.

Motivating Students
Learn strategies to motivate and inspire students to want to learn!

Positive Discipline Techniques
This session will teach tutors strategies for encouraging productive and positive behavior in students.

Exploring Culture
This workshop will be an interactive exploration of culture and diversity issues.

Tutoring Mainstreamed Elementary and Middle-School ESL Students
Participants will learn proven strategies to working effectively with elementary and middle-school ESL students.

Understanding Learning Disabilities
This session will provide tutors with a basic understanding of learning disabilities and attention-deficit disorders, as well as how they can present information effectively for students with disabilities.
