How can my organization participate in Ready to Rent?
Currently Ready to Rent is only being taught by organizations selected to participate through a request for proposal process. However, we hope to open up the pool of participating agencies in the future. If your organization has an interest in teaching the Ready to Rent curriculum, please contact Marlo Klein and you will be contacted when participation is open.

Does participating as a Ready to Rent agency cost anything?
Currently, United Way of King County provides a two-day Ready to Rent instructor training free of charge to agencies selected to teach the curriculum. The training includes: the Ready to Rent Training Manual, Action Kit, and Program Materials. Organizations certified to teach the Ready to Rent curriculum are responsible for any costs related to implementing the program, which includes staff time, printing and other related items.

Can clients from an agency not participating in the program attend Ready to Rent classes somewhere else?
It depends on the agency teaching the Ready to Rent curriculum. Some agencies open classes to the general public and will accept referrals from other agencies. Other agencies only offer Ready to Rent to people already enrolled in a particular program at their agency. Call 206.461.5082 or contact Marlo Klein if you have any questions.

If I want to make a referral to a Ready to Rent agency, what criteria do I follow?
This depends on the agency accepting the referral. At a minimum, the person being referred should be homeless and/or low-income, living in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program for three months or longer, and able to focus on completing the training.

Are Ready to Rent graduates guaranteed housing?
No. We do not guarantee housing for Ready to Rent graduates. However, landlords participating in the program view the certificate as a positive factor in selecting tenants with screening barriers. The certificate should help people be more successful when competing in the housing market.
