How do I sign up to attend a Ready to Rent training?
You need to contact an organization that is providing training. Some Ready to Rent trainings are only offered to people that are already enrolled in one of their programs. Other agencies open up their classes to the general public or will accept a referral from a case manager, social worker or family support specialist. To find out which agencies accept referrals, call 206.461.5082 or e-mail Marlo Klein.

How long will it take to graduate?
It will take you at least 12 hours of class time to graduate. Each agency has a different training schedule. Some agencies conduct the training over a four-week period, while others may schedule the training over an eight-week period.

Will I be guaranteed housing once I complete the training?
No. We do not guarantee that Ready to Rent graduates will obtain housing as a result of attending this training. However, once you graduate, you will receive a directory of landlords who see the diploma as a positive step toward responsible renting. You can also search for landlords with current vacancies that accept the Ready to Rent certificate by going to the Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound (RHA) Web site www.NWRentalResource.com.  These landlords view the certificate as a positive factor in selecting tenants with screening barriers. The certificate should be of help to you as you apply for housing.

Once I graduate, do I automatically get security deposit assistance?
No. To access security deposit assistance, you must speak to your Ready to Rent instructor. Your instructor must apply for it on your behalf and you must meet certain criteria. Please note that each agency only has access to a limited amount of security deposit funds.
