Out of the Rain Initiative

Our Vision: End homelessness in King County
Join us in our mission to help those in need find a place to call home.

Out of the Rain: this phrase suggests a desire that many of us in the gray Northwest live with nearly every day. We all want to get out of the rain and into warm, safe and supportive surroundings in order to thrive, not merely survive.

Yet it also speaks to banishing the hopeless mindset of 'nothing is going to change' -- that homelessness is here to stay. Through Out of the Rain, United Way of King County is shaping a future where homelessness is not a given. We believe that it is within the power of the community to alleviate this complex issue that affects us all. In 10 years, King County residents will say "homelessness used to be a big problem here, but things have changed." This is the vision of the Out of the Rain Initiative of the Community Safety Net Fund.
