United Way of King County and Solid Ground joined forces again this year at the Fremont Fair on June 16-17, 2007 to mobilize the community to end homelessness. The Fremont Fair celebrates the best of our community: art, spirit, sharing, celebration and working together to help each other. It was a great setting to bring people together to create community solutions.
United Way of King County had a special area at the fair where people learned more about our work to end homelessness, signed up for volunteer opportunities and participated in hands-on activities that made it possible for everybody to play a role in ending homelessness.
Event highlights:
- United Way of King County, Solid Ground and Habitat for Humanity Affiliates of Greater King County to built a house for a deserving family during the Fremont Fair. That's right-the house was built right in the middle of the fair! Special thanks to Google and Master Builders Association for generously sponsoring the house build.
- We created "welcome home" signs for people moving off the streets and into permanent housing.
