Your donation to United Way of King County helps youth succeed in school, graduate on time and be prepared to transition to higher education, vocational education or employment.

Community issues

  • Education is the single largest predictor of future earning potential, and in America today, it is virtually impossible to obtain any type of substantial employment without a high school diploma.
  • Starting in the year 2008, students must meet standards on the 10th grade Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL).
  • Youth who do well in school are less likely to engage in risky behaviors throughout their lives.
  • Youth that don't graduate from high school are more likely to experience poverty and an increased risk of homelessness and criminal involvement.

We help:

  • Develop and strengthen academic skills
  • Support at-risk students to make academic progress
  • Enable parents and guardians to participate in children's learning
