Community issues

  • 1 in 10 children in King County lives in poverty.
  • About 31% of children entering kindergarten aren't ready to think, read and get along with others on their first day of school.
  • One in three teens feels little commitment to their schools, and two in five reported experiencing academic failure.
  • Each year in King County, 23,000 children and youth witness domestic violence and parental assault.

We help:

  • Enable families to meet their basic needs of food and shelter
  • Strengthen parenting skills through classes, support groups and home visits
  • Connect parents to quality, affordable child care
