Your donation to United Way of King County provides safety, counseling and support services for people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

Community issues

  • King County has 12,500 reported domestic violence incidents per year.
  • The actual number of domestic violence incidents is unknown, but the average estimate is 90,000 per year.
  • It's estimated that at some time in their lives, 25% of women living in King County will be physically assaulted or raped by their current or former partner.

We help:

  • Provide safety for victims through shelters and safehouses
  • Connect victims to counseling and other support services such as housing and job training
  • Support children that are affected through play therapy
  • Give treatment options to abusers who want to stop violent behavior
  • Change attitudes and prevent violence through school and community education programs
