Ending domestic violence and sexual assault
Your donation to United Way of King County provides safety, counseling and support services for people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
Community issues
- King County has 12,500 reported domestic violence incidents per year.
- The actual number of domestic violence incidents is unknown, but the average estimate is 90,000 per year.
- It's estimated that at some time in their lives, 25% of women living in King County will be physically assaulted or raped by their current or former partner.
We help:
- Provide safety for victims through shelters and safehouses
- Connect victims to counseling and other support services such as housing and job training
- Support children that are affected through play therapy
- Give treatment options to abusers who want to stop violent behavior
- Change attitudes and prevent violence through school and community education programs
