Community issues
- 1 in 10 children in King County lives in poverty.
- About 31% of children entering kindergarten aren't ready to think, read and get along with others on their first day of school.
- One in three teens feels little commitment to their schools, and two in five reported experiencing academic failure.
- Each year in King County, 23,000 children and youth witness domestic violence and parental assault.
We help:
- Enable families to meet their basic needs of food and shelter
- Strengthen parenting skills through classes, support groups and home visits
- Connect parents to quality, affordable child care
- Support early learning programs
- Develop strong academic skills and self-esteem in our youth
- Provide affordable health and dental care
- Give domestic violence victims counseling and other support services such as housing and job training
