United Way's Bridge to Basics Program
Helping people in need access food, utility assistance and health care

In Washington state, there are many resources available to help people who are low-income or who are struggling financially. Unfortunately, most people don't realize that they are eligible for services that can help. For example, in King County only one-third of those eligible for food stamps are not claiming them.

Families and individuals who have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries don't know that this help is available. We want to change this!

United Way of King County's Bridge to Basics Program will get people living on the edge signed up for income supports that can help them avoid crisis situations. Our Bridge to Basics volunteers will be stationed in the community to connect folks with money-saving services such as Basic Food (food stamps), Basic Health (low-cost health care), and utility assistance.

We are all in this together—volunteering to help others directly is a great way to take action during these times of economic uncertainty. Be a part of our Bridge to Basics volunteer team!
