Bridge to Basics: What to Bring to Apply for Benefits

Bridge to Basics volunteers can help you learn about and get signed up for a variety of public benefits.

Basic Food (food stamps) is the most commonly used benefit, and you'll want to come prepared with all that's required to apply:

  • Copy of Photo ID for head of household
  • Copy of Social Security card for head of household, and Social Security number for all other eligible household members
  • Proof of income for the last 30 days (pay stubs, letter from employer, etc.)
  • If any, proof of dependent care costs (child care, daycare, etc.)
  • If any, proof of medical expenses (medical bills, pharmacy receipts) for individuals who are disabled or over age 65

Bridge to Basics volunteers are located throughout King County. Watch this site for information about where and when they will be at particular locations.
