START/END DATE: 3/10/2025 - 8/31/2025
Everyone deserves access to nutritious and culturally relevant food. As an AmeriCorps member, you will support projects that fight poverty by increasing the sustainability of the emergency food distributions, which have primarily supported low-income and BIPOC individuals.
START AND END DATES:
March 10th, 2025 – August 31st, 2025
LOCATION:
Wallingford, 98103
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
United Way of King County’s vision is to build a community where people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable. As part of our work to end poverty, we are committed to ensuring that children, particularly children of color, have access to healthy food in the places where they live, learn, and play.
FamilyWorks partners with families to alleviate food insecurity and ensure they have resources and support to overcome systemic barriers to equity, build stable communities, and thrive. We operate two brick-and-mortar food banks as well as 10+ mobile sites and home grocery delivery service. Through our Family Resource Center, we offer family programming like playgroups, parenting classes and essential resources like diapers and kids’ clothing.
The Food Security AmeriCorps team is a dynamic cohort of direct service AmeriCorps members working in partnership with United Way staff, AmeriCorps HungerCorps members, school districts, and community-based organizations to connect families with the food they need. As a member, you will serve with partner organizations – food banks, collectives, and community anti-hunger organizations – all who prioritize increasing food justice and food security in our community.
