Happy Hour & Hellos is a 21+ event\, and we’ve got the scoop on exactly where to enter the stadium to claim your bobblehead and skip the lines! \n  \nThe night is focused on our neighbor fund that supports families having access to food and housing. Sometimes our neighbors get the help they need at a moment’s notice with our rapid response grants. Additionally\, The Seattle Mariners have been avid partners in our efforts to break down barriers to education and opportunities for young people. \n  \nThe ballpark is alive and well inside the Hit it Here Cafe for Happy Hour & Hellos with a classic ball park menu of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs\, including vegetarian patties and links. The baked potato bar will be open and plenty of snacks like kettle chips and popcorn that are gluten free. Plus two drink tokens. Happy Hour & Hellos officially kicks off at 5:30pm with some community highlights including ways to get involved at 6:00pm. \n  \nNetwork with like-minded professionals who care about giving back to the community and take action all before the first pitch!\n  \nThat’s right\, you’re welcome to stay for the game when you arrive at the venue before the first pitch! So\, load up an Uber or light rail with your favorite co-workers and head down to the stadium. We’ll have some exciting prizes for those networking with us\, including limited edition Mariner’s gear! \n  \nWe are thrilled to be partnering on this exciting event that supports United Way’s mission to create a more equitable future for everyone! \n  \nPurchase your tickets on Eventbrite and a United Way coordinator will confirm your order and send you your digital Seattle Mariners ticket to access the stadium each Friday beginning May 9. SUMMARY:Advancing Racial Equity: Revisiting Dr. King's Lost Speech
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate Black History Month and for an evening of advancing racial equity in King County. Come\, listen\, learn\, and take action! \nOne of Dr. Martin Luther King’s greatest lessons was simply to listen. Can we intentionally build this practice of listening and empathizing in our workplaces\, places of worship\, within our families\, and across our networks? \nIn the latest installment of our Advancing Racial Equity Event Series\, we’ll discuss excerpts from one of Dr. King’s speeches\, a treasure that was nearly forgotten before being discovered on acetate film in 2008. Together\, we’ll discover how they resonate with today’s realities for all of us across King County. Our panelists include: \n\nColleen Echohawk – CEO\, Eighth Generation\nJorge L. Barón – King County Council\, District 4\nMarcus Boston – Glover Empower Mentoring\nGordon McHenry\, Jr. – CEO\, United Way of King County (moderator)\n\nWe’ll also enjoy performances by The Rhapsody Project\, a community that explores and celebrates music and heritage through an anti-racist lens. \nAs part of our racial equity journey\, proceeds from this event will go toward supporting and empowering The Black Community Building Collective\, The Indigenous Communities Fund\, and the Racial Equity Coalition. \nIf the ticket price is a barrier for you to attend this event\, please email us at eventregistration@uwkc.org for a free ticket code. This event will not be recorded or offered virtually.  \n  \nLooking for other ways to connect with United Way of King County? Check out our next event on February 29 – Conversations for Change: Of Equity and Education.
