SUMMARY:Volunteer: 43rd Annual MLK Day March
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer to hand out signs to those marching in the parade and join the march if you’d like.\nSign Up Here! \n  \n\n\n\nVolunteering on  January 19th\, 2026 supports the Seattle Martin Luther King Jr Coalition in celebrating and honoring Dr. King’s legacy. The event includes a rally\, the march for peace\, internship opportunities\, workshops\, youth led programming and a job fair\, and every volunteer is offered the annual MLK Coalition T-shirt. \n  \nVolunteers will help by getting signs ready to distribute for the march right after the workshop and rally. We will be strategically dispersed throughout the Garfield High School parking lot to pass out all sign handles.\n  \nThis opportunity is hosted by our Emerging Leaders 365 young professionals and all are welcome to volunteer! Each opportunity supports United Way of King County’s mission to create racially just communities where all people have homes\, students graduate\, and families are financially stable. \n  \nIt will be cold and we will be outside\, so make sure to dress warm and wear comfortable shoes and gloves!\n\n\nJoin us to honor his legacy and belief in equality. \n

DESCRIPTION:United Way of King County supports nonprofits’ work through resources such as volunteers\, advocacy\, and funding.\nThis Volunteer Month\, you have the power to make an impact! A meeting invitation will be sent to all registrants prior to the session.\nSession 2: March 21 at 10:30 a.m.: Join us in-person at El Centro De La Raza to review applications and help decide which projects receive funding.\n\nThis is a great way to see behind the scenes of grantmaking and ensure that community-led volunteer opportunities receive the support they need. By signing up for this project\, you are committing to participating in both sessions and reviewing grant applications between the first and second meetings.

SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity: Pack the Bus: May 20
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that when school lets out for the summer\, many children lose access to the meals\, supplies\, and enrichment they need to thrive? To help bridge that gap\, United Way of King County is partnering with Communities in Schools of Greater King County (CIS) to launch Pack the Bus\, a new corporate and community volunteer initiative supporting students and families during the summer months. \nVolunteers will assemble over 2\,500 summer support kits for students across King County\, including select schools in districts such as Seattle\, Lake Washington\, Issaquah\, and Renton. Kits will include food\, hygiene supplies\, activities\, and resources designed to keep students nourished\, healthy\, and engaged all summer long. This is the first year of Pack the Bus\, and our vision is to grow the program to reach even more students and communities. \nWhile this is a partner-led volunteer event\, you can volunteer with our Emerging Leaders 365 group or make an immediate impact by purchasing items from our Amazon Wish List. to support the kits. \nIf your organization is interested in partnering or if you have any questions\, please reach out to Alexis Silva at asilva@uwkc.org and Carrie Bates at cbates@uwkc.org.
