SUMMARY:Speaker Series with Fred Rivera
DESCRIPTION:Seattle Mariners’ Fred Rivera Joins Us at Steelheads Alley! (Hatback Bar and Grill) \n  \nFred Rivera is up to bat at the next Speaker Series\, an event created for young professionals to access leaders in the community. \n  \nFred is the executive vice president\, corporate secretary and general counsel for the Seattle Mariners. Additionally\, he has been influential in working toward solving Seattle’s homelessness crisis with the inauguration of United Way’s Home Base Program. A program that houses over 7\,000 people a year. \n  \nOn March 2 we are pitching our tent at Steelheads Alley\, a partnership brewpub with the Mariners and Métier Brewing company\, one of Seattle’s only black owned breweries. Fred will share his career journey through the sports industry and tips for keeping your values front and center. \n  \n  \n \n  \nSteelheads Alley is located across the street from T-Mobile Stadium and shares a namesake with Seattle’s first Black Baseball team during the 1946 Jim Crow era\, honoring and paying tribute to the rich and diverse sport’s history of baseball and softball in the Pacific Northwest.  \n  \nThis is a unique location to occupy while highlighting both the sports and legal industries. We’ll learn from each other and lean into bringing our whole self to everything that we do. \n  \nJoin us for an intimate event to chat face-to-face with our speakers\, network with like-minded individuals and enjoy light refreshments. Plus get ready for baseball season by bidding on exciting auction items with all proceeds helping to fight homelessness in Seattle! Items include Ken Griffey Jr bobbleheads\, Seattle Mariners tumbler\, tickets to the Seattle Art Museum and more!

SUMMARY:Volunteer and Learn: Tax Prep Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer and Learn is an opportunity for a more in-depth volunteer experience. Participants learn from experts on the issue\, then roll up their sleeves and help out as hands-on volunteers. \nUnited Way’s Tax Prep Campaign began in 2003 with a single tax site in White Center and has grown to include more than a dozen tax sites plus virtual tax help. To date\, we’ve served more than 150\,000 clients and distributed more than $200 million in refunds\, of which $62 million was in Earned Income Tax Credits and $70 million was in Child Tax Credits. Come learn more about the important work our tax prep team does from the inside out with a community services expert and work with fellow volunteers to get the word out about the free tax prep services available in the community. \nSaturday 2/18 (11AM-1PM)\, @ Location TBD at a Free Tax Site \n\nVolunteers will get an introduction to United Way of King County & Free Tax Preparation Campaign. You’ll learn about how it works\, who it serves\, and why it’s such a powerful tool to help families become financially stable.\nAfter the educational segment\, volunteers will help get the word about our free tax prep services in the community by walking to homes within the neighborhood immediately surrounding the tax site and putting information on residents’ door knobs.\nPlease note that this event will require walking on light hills and uneven surfaces in residential neighborhoods.\n\nBy signing up for this project you are committing to participating in the educational and outreach component on Saturday 2/18.

SUMMARY:Lead United for Equity: Peer-To-Peer Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Fundraisers are hard at work to raise $10\,000 to keep families in their homes this winter and fight food insecurities. We hope you will join us!  \nThis peer-to-to peer fundraiser allows anyone to be a philanthropist and brings the entire Emerging Leaders 365 community together to have a collective impact on hunger & homelessness this winter. \n  \nYou can throw a house party\, lead a boot camp\, host a karaoke night or simply create a fundraiser page to share with family and friends. How you fundraise is up to you and the possibilities are endless. Plus\, the Emerging Leaders 365 committee will be with you throughout the process to make sure your fundraiser is a success! \n  \nWhen you sign up to create your Lead United for Equity page anyone can join in the fun and every dollar counts toward reaching our goal of $10\,000. \n  \n\nIf just 12 of us came together to raise $100 each we could provide a family with weekly home delivery of groceries for a year through our DoorDash partnership.\n\n  \n\nIf just 20 of us came together to raise $250 each we could provide 33 sets of work clothes and shoes for people experiencing homelessness.\n\n  \n\nIf just 25 of us came together to raise $500 each we could aid in increasing access to healthy school meals for 180\,000 students.\n\n  \nCan we do it? Microsoft thinks we can and they have agreed to match each donation up to $10\,000. \n  \nWe will walk you through the process of creating your page virtually on November 22 at 6:00 pm in our Lead United for Equity kick-off. —LET’S DO THIS!

SUMMARY:Give Big is Here!
DESCRIPTION:Become an Emerging Leaders 365 donor – for just a dollar a day – to help students stay in school and get gift cards to support local BIPOC businesses! Give $365 all at once\, $30 a month\, or even combine it with your partner’s gift. How you give is up to you! \n  \n \nYour gift supports the Bridge to Finish program. This program helps community college students get services like emergency financial grants\, housing assistance\, access to food\, and financial education\, empowering students to stay in school and complete their education. Together\, we can help more students graduate. \nWill you give this spring? \n  \n  \n \n  \nDuring GiveBIG\, April 19th – May 4th\, we’ve partnered with The Intentionalist to offer all new Emerging Leaders 365 donors 3 gift vouchers to BIPOC-owned coffee shops. Change Maker donors\, giving at $100 a month\, will receive 3 gift vouchers to support local BIPOC-owned restaurants. \nMake your gift today! \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
