Breaking News: You Don’t Have to File Taxes This Year

By United Way of King County, on April 1, 2014 | In Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

April fools’! Or is it?

Technically you don’t have to do much (other than show up with your tax documents) and United Way volunteers will help file those taxes for you. If that doesn’t make you jump for joy, I’m not sure what will.

Here’s the scoop: April 15th is the deadline to file taxes, meaning you should stop procrastinating and hoping you don’t have to do it this year, because you do. Here’s how we can help:

Did you make less than $52,000 last year?
Head into one of the 19 tax sites and let a trained volunteer walk you through filing your taxes. It’s like magic. They’ll demystify the confusing parts of taxes and before you know it, you’ll be finished and won’t have to think about taxes again for 12 whole months! Read this before you go.

Did you make less than $57,000 last year and prefer to do your taxes yourself online (for FREE)?

Know someone else that would fall into one of the above categories? Help us spread the word!
Point your friend in the right direction because you shouldn’t keep something this good to yourself.

Last year United Way volunteers prepared 14,900 tax returns and secured $22 million in refunds (aka money in pockets)!

I got my taxes done here last year too and I really appreciate how easy you make this process. Your organization is so helpful it makes me want to volunteer with you too.” –2014 returning tax client
