Before your schedule gets too busy with the end of the year, I’d like to share with you this story of Andre.

He and his two sons were homeless just a few months ago. With our area’s housing market as competitive as it is, Andre’s housing search was already complicated and stressful enough. His mental health disability made it nearly impossible. That all changed when generous people like you donated to United Way.

Thanks to your gift, United Way’s Streets to Home program could help with his security deposit. Andre got a low-income apartment in Renton for his family. And he’s getting counseling and other health support near his apartment from Valley Cities, one of United Way’s grantees.

Your donations are the reason Andre and his sons now have a warm apartment to go home to. With stability at home, getting to work and school on time is easier. And stability all around becomes their norm.

Andre is one of 206 people Streets to Home helped this year in its pilot phase. Our goal is 300 more by June 30.

The mere thought of sleeping outside on the cold, wet ground is distressing in and of itself. And this time of year, the need is urgent—because our region’s homelessness crisis is real.
