Amazon Knows Summer Meals are For Big Kids Too
Bouncy houses. Face painting. Delicious food. Our Summer Food Invasion field days aren’t just for little ones – they’re for big kids too! Last week dozens of volunteers from Amazon came together at Judkins Park to ensure a fun experience for nearly 100 youngsters.
It’s the first week of United Way’s Summer Food Invasion – serving free meals so that no child goes without a healthy lunch during the summer. Amazonians were taking charge at the oversized ring toss, bigger-than-life bowling pins and, of course, face painting.
Alec – who in addition to his role on the Movies & TV team at Amazon, dons the title of Fun Squad Captain – said the Amazon teams do a lot of fun things year-round and make sure that at least two outings each year are service-based. The Fun Squad gives the team a chance to welcome new members and check out all that the Seattle area has to offer.
United Way board member and Amazon employee Rafael Grijalva was proud of the turnout. His board-level volunteering and heading the United Way Emerging Leaders program often has him behind the scenes and he was glad to have some face time with the families we serve.
