You Rocked This Seattle Volunteer Event

By United Way of King County, on September 18, 2017 | In Volunteering

Sept. 15 was Day & Night of Caring. A few words on this Seattle volunteer event? It. Was. AWESOME. Thank you, thank you and thank you again to all the volunteers, fundraisers and do-gooders who made this day so impactful!

What went down:

  • 13,000 volunteers completed 430 projects at 250 nonprofits around King County. If they hired people to do all this amazing work, it would have cost $1.8 million!
  • 1.9M social media impressions with #DayofCaringKC.
  • 1,000 celebrated with the Bachelorette’s Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried, Mariners’ Dan Wilson, Seahawks’ Sidney Rice, Sounders FC’s Roger Levesque and Storm’s Sue Bird at Night Out For Caring at Safeco Field.
  • $53,000 was raised to help struggling families in our community.

What were the Day & Night of Caring volunteer projects like? A whole lotta painting, weeding, sprucing up and prepping food at shelters, food banks, schools and more. The beautiful sunny day wasn’t too shabby either. Then they celebrated at Night Out For Caring at The ‘Pen at Safeco Field with bevs and bites from Ethan Stowell Restaurants, Jack Daniels and tons more.

This huge Seattle volunteer event means so much to us at United Way and our partners. Many hands make light work—and with all the sadness and badness happening in our nation lately, Day & Night of Caring is an irreplaceable beacon of goodness for our local community. Together, we’re building a community where people have homes, students graduate and families are financially stable. Thank you to all who were part of it!

We need YOU next time too

MLK Day of Service is next up, and you might already have the day off. Mark Jan. 15, 2018, to join this movement.

Special thanks to all of our generous sponsors:
