📢 Advocacy in Action

Improving education and removing barriers so students can succeed is one of our priorities at United Way. Last year, we and our partners helped pass House Bill 1559 or the Student Basic Needs Act. This secures funding for Washington's public colleges to hire dedicated “navigators” who connect students with vital resources they need to stay in school.

This year, we petitioned state lawmakers to increase state funding from a three-fourths time position to a full-time, on-campus navigator at every public 2- and 4-year college.
