April is National Volunteer Month and we are calling all volunteers to join forces to serve 365 hours in a single month.
Emerging Leaders 365 are hosting volunteer projects on Saturdays, April 6 and April 13. Projects are designed to serve an immediate need in the community with trusted organizations and partners. As we work side-by-side with communities to build an equitable future for everyone, your support is invaluable. Volunteer with youth at Coyote Central, children at risk of homelessness at Birthday Dreams, and/or help families in need of shelter and basic needs items.
When you come to two or more volunteer month projects, you’ll receive free tickets to our next Happy Hour & Hellos event, complete with drink tokens and prizes.
Join us on April 13th for a monthly volunteer opportunity to support Birthday Dreams. Birthday Dreams provides a dream birthday to homeless children ages 1 to 18 years. In 2018 over 40,000 school age children were homeless in Washington State. Of those, only 13% were living in shelters*. The rest are living on the street, in cars, couch surfing with friends or family, and in group foster homes. For a child experiencing homelessness, something as simple as a birthday party can seem miles out of reach.
- We will help Birthday Dreams prepare birthday party favors.
- Decorating goody bags.
- Making party hats.
- Creating and putting together party games!

This opportunity is hosted by young professionals but all are welcome! By participating you will receive similar opportunities emailed to you bimonthly. Each opportunity supports United Way of King County’s mission to build an equitable future for everyone, we envision continuing to reimagine and reform historically exclusionary systems—side by side with our community.
