Food Lifeline works with the food industry and its surpluses to come up with creative solutions to stopping hunger, including redirecting good food from manufacturers, farmers, grocery stores and restaurants that might otherwise go to waste. The organization provides 91,000 meals per day to local food assistance programs, and that, combined with policy work, creates a sustainable approach to stopping hunger.
Each year, Food Lifeline sorts through 40 million pounds of food. Inspecting and packing this food takes a lot of hands! Emerging Leaders will assist with inspection, sorting and repacking donations for distribution to the network of 275 hunger relief partners across Western Washington.
