Maud Daudon, career project leader for Connect Washington and a United Way of King County board member, has been named United Way’s board chair for fiscal year 2023, the 101-year organization announced recently.

United Way also named four new members to its board for the fiscal year, which began July 1: Lisa Chin, CEO of Treehouse; Ann Munson Steines, VP & general counsel of Nordstrom; Omar Riojas, partner at Goldfarb & Huck; and Andy Schneider, senior VP of people at Alaska Air Group, Inc.

Daudon previously served as board vice chair and succeeds Perkins Coie partner Dave Burman at the chair position.

Daudon has been involved with United Way organizations much of her life; she grew up in the Chicago area to parents who were actively involved with United Way of Chicago. Washington Governor Jay Inslee named her to lead Career Connect Washington, a 10-year initiative launched to build a statewide, career-connected learning and apprenticeship system. Career Connect Washington works with schools and employers across the state to give meaningful, real-world job experiences to students of all ages as well as workers up to age 30.

Prior to joining the chamber, Daudon was president and CEO of Seattle Northwest Securities, a regional investment bank. She served as Seattle’s deputy mayor from 1998 to 2001. She also served as the Port of Seattle’s chief financial officer and president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

“Being a part of the United Way board during the pandemic has solidified my sense that it is an essential engine for the good for our community, said Daudon. “I am honored to work with incredible board, staff and community leaders to help realize its powerful vision of working toward a racially just community where all people have homes, students graduate and families are financially viable.”

United Way’s new members bring more than 40 years of leadership as well as experience serving on other local and national boards. They also reflect the region’s growing diversity:
