King County Is in Crisis.
But Together, We Can Help.
Amid the second-longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history, funding of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has taken a severe hit, leaving nearly 200,000 people in King County without the food assistance they rely on to meet basic needs. As we navigate this current crisis, here are some ways you can get involved:
Give
Seattle Food Committee
The Seattle Food Committee is a network of 32 food bank sites in Seattle, serving more than 1 million households each year.
Meals Partnership Coalition
The Meals Partnership Coalition is a coalition of 45+ meal providers serving more than 4 million free meals each year within the Puget Sound region.
Our Neighbor Fund
United Way’s Our Neighbor Fund has been connecting people with food resources. We’re funding emergency grants to food banks; partnering to deliver groceries and facilitate free school meals; and more.
Volunteer
Sign up for opportunities or volunteer at a food bank, nonprofit, or community effort working to feed our neighbors.
Advocate
Tell your representatives on Capitol Hill to fund SNAP now and end the government shutdown.
Spread the Word
Share resources on social media and in our community on local food banks and pantries, restaurants providing free meals, and basic needs resources.
Thank you for helping fill the funding gap. When systems pause, our community moves. Together, we can make sure everyone has enough to eat during this time.
