How You Can Support Hurricane Relief Efforts in the Southeast

Many communities in the nation’s Southeast region will need years to recover from the catastrophic devastation of hurricanes Helene and Milton. Several United Way agencies are seeking donations to help their communities recover. Here’s a list of some of those organizations: 

Florida

Several United Way agencies in Florida are soliciting funds that will go directly to those impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.

  • For counties in North Florida, including the state capitol Tallahassee, give to United Way of the Big Bend
  • For counties on the Florida Gulf Coast, including the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota, give to United Way Suncoast
  • For counties in the Orlando area, give to Heart of Florida United Way . 
  • United Way of Florida, which serves all 28 United Ways statewide, has also established a Disaster Recovery Fund. To learn more, click here

Georgia

United Way of the CRSA (Central Savannah River Area) has established a Disaster Relief Fund for people impacted in the Augusta, GA, area. For more information, click here.

North Carolina

  • United Way of North Carolina has set up a UW Helps NC Helene Recovery Fund to help United Ways in the affected areas respond to urgent requests and meet residents’ needs. United Way of North Carolina has also established a Disaster Relief Fund that grants up to $10,000 to nonprofit organizations supporting recovery efforts. For more information, click here
  • United Way of Ashville and Buncombe County seeking support for relief and rebuilding efforts. For more information, click here
  • United Way of Henderson County (just south of Ashville) is seeking food, water, shelter, and other resources for hurricane victims. For more information, click here

South Carolina

United Way Association of South Carolina and United Ways of the Midlands have set up sites that allow donors to give directly to hurricane recovery and relief efforts. Click here to learn more.

United Way Worldwide also has a hurricane Disaster Relief Fund that allows donors to designate their gifts to support relief efforts from either Hurricane Milton or Hurricane Helene. Click here to learn more.
