Making a Difference: Brighton Jones Raises Money for COVID-19 Community Relief

By United Way of King County, on April 20, 2020 | In News

Wanting to respond to the wide-ranging economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis, Brighton Jones, a Seattle-based wealth management company, stepped up in a major way by organizing an online team fundraiser for United Way of King County’s Community Relief Fund.

To date, their fundraising team has raised over $10,000 through their networks.

“…we felt this was the fastest and most effective way to support the community and get others involved.”

Molly Norton, Philanthropic Advisor at Brighton Jones, spearheaded the effort to get the teamraiser started. When asked about why they went the teamraiser route, she said, “We’ve been partnering with United Way for years now, and we’ve always appreciated how directly connected they are to the communities in which they work.”

“They made it so easy to launch a team fundraiser—it literally took just a few minutes—so we felt this was the fastest and most effective way to support the community and get others involved,” she added.

On April 10, United Way of King County launched the rental assistance application. Within a few days, more than 5,000 applications were submitted by people who are behind on April’s rent due to the pandemic, underscoring the need for help.

With help from partners like Brighton Jones, we can continue working to meet the unprecedented need for food and rental assistance in the community.

Thank you Brighton Jones for stepping up in this time of need and raising money to help others in the community!

This is a very amazing accomplishment, -and very much needed at this time. I met Molly and a few other Brighton Jones team members at a Town Hall event last spring, and they came across as very conscientious, caring and responsible people. A few of them mentioned about their company's involvement in the community through volunteering, and in particular their participation in the Community Resource Exchange. Clearly, our world be a lot better place if there were more companies like them around.
