School Breakfast

EAT. SMILE. LEARN.

When kids eat breakfast, they focus better in school, have higher attendance and are more likely to graduate. Your child’s school offers a delicious, healthy breakfast every morning and we encourage you to take part!

Washington ranks very poorly (45th in the nation) for school breakfast participation. That means a ton of kids are missing out and maybe skipping the most important meal of the day. United Way is working to change that. We’re using nationally recognized strategies to increase access to school breakfast. Don’t you want your kid to have Breakfast Brain too?!

EVERY SCHOOL BREAKFAST INCLUDES:

Whole grain entrees

At least half of a cup of fruits or vegetables

Low-fat milk

The free breakfast that’s offered in schools in King County meet federal nutrition guidelines set by the USDA.
