AmeriCorps Program Earns National Recognition

By United Way of King County, on November 24, 2020 | In Breaking the Cycle of Poverty, News

We’re so proud to share that United Way of King County’s AmeriCorps program was recognized in September as the 2020 Outstanding Service Program by America’s Service Commissions.

Each year, more than 200 AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA members fuel our work to build a community where people have homes, students graduate and families are financially stable.

AmeriCorps members come to us through the AmeriCorps national service program with the common goal of alleviating poverty. They allow us to leverage the people power of our full-time staff and therefore make donor dollars go further.

A glimpse at the many things our AmeriCorps members do:

And they have stepped up to help our region respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic with equitable and just solutions.

Take a closer look at how AmeriCorps members’ hard work has continued during the COVID-19 crisis.

This award is part of America’s Service Commissions’ annual Innovation and Leadership Awards. Take a look at the Commissions’ reasons for selecting United Way for this honor. We guarantee it will put a smile on your face with all the positivity being celebrated!

Many thanks to all of our AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA team members, who put their all into strengthening our community and making it more equitable. We are so proud of what we can do together.
