Project LEAD Graduates Shape Our Community

On the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, the celebration of 47 people of color about to serve their community had us extra proud. Project LEAD (Leadership, Effectiveness and Diversity) is a month-long training program to prepare people of color to serve on nonprofit boards. The training comes to an end with a recruitment fair, where nonprofits get to meet potential new board members, and a graduation celebration. Read Article

Microsoft volunteers for United Way’s Free Tax Preparation, ensuring financial stability. On average, one volunteer returns $30,000 to individuals and families in the form of tax credits and refunds. So when we say we’re thankful to have so many Microsoft tax volunteers, what we mean is we’re REALLY thankful. Like $30,000 each thankful. Read Article

Emotional Highs From Day and Night of Caring

The BAWSE ladies are pretty much still on an emotional high from Night Out for Caring! What an awesome, awesome event hosted by the United Way of King County. Together, 13,000 Participants volunteered their time and energy by serving at homeless shelters, reading to kids, garden work, paint jobs, and so much more. We're so honored to have been part of it.
