2024 Lobby Day

Feb 1 8:00 AM-3:00 PM
Washington State Capital Campus
1002 Washington St. SE,, Olympia, WA 98501, 98501

Join us in Olympia, WA on Thursday, February 1st to advocate for the basic needs of post-secondary students.

At United Way, public policy advocacy is one of the key pillars of our work. Each year, we advocate for legislation that promotes our community’s ability to thrive–especially our Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. We meet with local, and state elected officials, and members of Congress—during and outside legislative sessions asking lawmakers to ensure adequate funding streams to proactively create equitable access to a high quality of life and resources for all people. We also participate in coalitions and advocacy groups that meet with legislators and lobbyists so we can learn from each other about the latest work.

Join United Way supporters in Olympia for the 2024 Lobby Day, as we urge policymakers to meet post-secondary students’ basic needs for navigation, food, housing, mental and behavioral healthcare, and childcare. You will have the chance to learn about Advocacy 101, learn about this year’s legislative priorities for United Way and the Post Secondary Basic Needs (PSBN) Coalition, hear directly from student representatives from the Washington Students Association and meet with your district legislators to share your views.

No prior advocacy experience is needed. Training and resources will be provided at the event itself. Learn more about our 2024 public policy agenda and sign up today to help build an equitable future for everyone.
