Volunteer - Help Families Find Free Summer Meals

Jun 13 10:00 AM-1:00 PM

When school is out, many families lose access to the free and reduced-price meals their kids rely on during the year.

The Free Summer Meals Program exists to help bridge that gap by offering free meals to all youth under 18—no paperwork or sign-up required. In 2023, over 12,000 kids per day accessed meals at more than 200 sites across King County.

To help raise awareness, we’re looking for volunteers to join us on June 13 to place yard signs across South King County. These signs will help connect families to local sites where food (and often fun activities) are already available.

We’ll start at the Burien Community Center with a short kickoff—then break into groups to head out into nearby neighborhoods.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Bring your car and help transport signs and volunteers along a route.

  • Team up with coworkers, family, or friends—you’re welcome to form your own group.

  • Prefer to walk? We’ll have shorter, walkable routes available too.

This is a simple but meaningful way to support access to food and information—right in the neighborhoods where it’s needed.

Join us to get the word out and help make this resource visible to more families.
