Volunteer with United Way of King County and Black Farmers Collective!

April is National Volunteer Month! Join us Saturday, April 18, 11 AM–3 PM at Small Axe Farm in Redmond for Preserving the Land Through AgriCULTURE—a hands-on volunteer day in partnership with the Black Farmers Collective.

Located in the Sammamish Valley, Small Axe Farm serves as an incubator and teaching farm supporting emerging BIPOC land stewards with access to land, training, and resources. Volunteers will hear from the founder of the Black Farmers Collective and pitch in on seasonal tasks like weeding, pruning, organizing tools, and general farm care.

This work supports a broader mission to build a Black-led food system and advance equity in our local food landscape. No experience needed—just come ready to learn, connect, and get your hands a little dirty!

What to expect: Gloves, water, and lunch provided. Please wear sturdy outdoor shoes and bring a refillable water bottle.

Stay connected: Sign up for the Emerging Leaders 365 newsletter  for more ways to start your year of impact!

Please note: Volunteer projects help meet the needs of our community organizations, and the volunteer capacity is set to support that. If you need to cancel your commitment to a project, please do so at least 48 hours in advance.
