United Way of King County 2011 Breakfast

Breakfast 2011 post

On June 8, we held our annual Breakfast at the Paramount. Nearly 700 guests joined colleagues and community leaders to learn about the progress we’re making together on key challenges including ending homelessness, giving every child an equal chance to succeed, and meeting basic needs.

Speakers included United Way CEO Jon Fine, Weyerhaeuser CEO and United Way Board Chair Dan Fulton, and Washington Federal CEO and United Way Campaign Chair Roy Whitehead. Also appearing was Elizabeth Warman, regional director of Global Corporate Citizenship for The Boeing Company.

KING 5 newsman Allen Schauffler led an enlightening discussion about the long-term health effects of hunger with University of Washington Professor Adam Drewnowski and Dr. Ben Danielson, Medical Director of the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic.

Guests left with an abundance of food for thought about the issue of hunger and how—together—we can do more and ensure that every person in our community has enough healthy food to eat.
